For 2003-2004 school year, Williamson County students achieved the highest scores on TCAP (Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program) exams in Middle Tennessee, with national percentile ratings in the 70s and 80s in every subject and grade-level except for seventh-grade science (68), still well above the statewide average percentile of 47. Williamson County high school students have also received recognition, ranking second in a recent state survey of percentage of ?Class of 2000? graduates continuing education. This consistently above-average performance has earned Williamson County a widely recognized reputation for academic excellence.
According to the 2000 Census, Williamson County has experienced a phenomenal 56.3% growth rate in the past decade, making it the fastest growing county in Tennessee. Approximately 600-800 new students enroll in Williamson Schools each year. As more and more families relocate to Williamson County to reap the benefits of its superior school system, Williamson County Schools continue to make efforts to keep student/teacher ratios down in order to maintain quality educational standards. More than half of the 30 public schools in Williamson County have been built since 1990, and plans are currently underway for the addition of seven new facilities throughout the county over the next three years.
